About the Author Tom Lane
Other than writing the critically acclaimed Solar Hot Water
manual Lessons Learned,
Tom Lane has served the solar industry tirelessly for many
years and is hailed as one of its leaders.
 Tom
Lane has been in the business of solar contracting since 1977,
as documented by the US Department of Energy pamphlet HCP/1566
3-01, issued in 1978. Tom's company, ECS Solar Energy Systems,
Inc. specializes in solar
pool heating, solar hot
water, and solar electric
sytems for remote and grid connected systems. He has served
as an editorial advisor for Solar Engineering
and Contracting magazine, and recently for Solar
Today. Tom now writes for Home Power
magazine and conducts seminars on solar hot water heating
at Solar Energy International in Carbondale,
CO. He conducted seminars on solar installation in conjunction
with Dr. Eric Farber at the University of Florida's Solar
Energy Department in training international students in solar
technology. Tom supervised the field training of these students,
sponsored by the United Nations.
